#Day 91: 31 March 2016

DON'T HOLD BACK

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.”  - Proverbs 3:27-28 NLT

According to gotquestions.org,  Solomon's proverbs were penned around 900 B.C. During his reign as king, the nation of Israel reached its pinnacle spiritually, politically, culturally, and economically.

I am amazed how the message is still Relevant to the current situation. (I learned here that we need to always be relevant, use common sense, and our work or message will help others through generations)

The same message saying do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them, have travelled through the evolution of time. From 900 B.C till 2016 A.C!!

Through out the centuries, the same message is delivered in such Simplicity, easy to understand.

Don't hold back doing good. To anyone that God put in your heart, those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.

As written in Matthew 25:40 NLT -  “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

I am still in the mood of fancying John the Baptist, serving others while waiting for Jesus to turn up. Doing good for others, not losing his focus on Jesus, on his King.

Let us continue to do good, don't hold back. Always be alert on the opportunity to serve others, right away, not tomorrow, not next time, but now. As even the smallest thing that we do, we know that we are doing it to Him.

Have you do any good today? Remember, Don't Hold Back.

Another day full of blessing. God bless.

#Day 90: 30 March 2016

THE BRIDEGROOM'S FRIEND

I have to admit that sometimes I do forgot about the message saying "Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people" - Colossians 3:23 NLT

The worlds definition of work willingly is, almost, rare. Why? Most of the time, most people, are driven by reward.

How many time you heard a statement about "why would I do that, he is my boss, that is his job not mine", or "why would I take the additional portfolio, there is increment at all", and so on.

And if there is someone taking it up for a good purpose, he or she will be labelled as "stupid", "clueless" and so on.

I experienced that recently, taking up a new portfolio without seeing a proposal of additional renumeration, focusing on learning and appreciation on the trust that were given to me. Some people told me exactly those labels.

The verse about John struck me today and it really help me to focus on what matters, on what fits to my value, on a clear purpose.

John, burried his ego, his desire and maybe his fame and all the earthly rewards, focus on whats important. He firmly knew his purpose, to prepare the way for the Lord, for Jesus.

All he have done is not for him. But he did it for the Lord.

John 3:27-29 MSG John answered, “It’s not possible for a person to succeed—I’m talking about eternal success—without heaven’s help. You yourselves were there when I made it public that I was not the Messiah but simply the one sent ahead of him to get things ready. The one who gets the bride is, by definition, the bridegroom. And the bridegroom’s friend, his ‘best man’—that’s me—in place at his side where he can hear every word, is genuinely happy. How could he be jealous when he knows that the wedding is finished and the marriage is off to a good start? “That’s why my cup is running over. This is the assigned moment for him to move into the center, while I slip off to the sidelines.

He knew that everything he did and about to do, is for God. He is the bridegroom's friend. And if he is the best man.

I quickly checked my conscience, and reflect. As His best man, and in all the things I do for my job, my work, did I ever try to take personal benefit? Doing it for my own agenda and not for the team, the employee and the organization.

Thank God, I can say, my conscience is clear. I want to be like John, genuinely happy and genuinely serving others for Him and not for the people.

Another day full of blessing. God bless.

I pray, that in any period of my life. I can have the same genuine conscience. And oh btw, He is a fair God, my boss told me she will give an adjustment. Praise God.

TRUST IN THE LORD, NOT HUMAN

Psalm 118:8-9 "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes"

Today, I experienced the truth about this verse, on how people, even those that you care, can change and turned away from you. Especially when they have taken all the things that they need from you.

But God, He demand nothing. He continue giving His best to us. His word is alive.

Psalm 23:1-6 - "A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows"

I continuously felt His blessing, as well as today at work. All discussions, work meetings, event turned out to be good. Only by His grace.

Remind me oh Holy Spirit. For the rest of my life. Remind me of your great Love. You and You alone.

Another day full of blessing.

CAST ALL YOUR ANXIETY

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you " - 1 Peter 5:7 NIV

It feels like all hell break loose, attacking my financial cash flow this month. From amazing unplanned amount for elsye's car service (3200MYR), plus the insurance for my car (1600MYR), and the gladstone operation for my in law, paid in cash as they do no have insurance (12000MYR).

It creates anxiety and worried at the same time.

On top of that, the increased workload at work, the commitment on my resolution, and the list continue.

No, I am not complaining nor grumbling. It is just to show the amount of pressure and interesting things that happened surrounding my life these days.

Glory to God in the highest. He knew all this, He prepared my heart and soul for these. The "Children like" devotion, the "Ultimate Sacrifice" as well as "Excellent Sacrifice" sermond by Ko ed, gave me arsenals to deal with the situation.

He cares for me.

The most important thing is my in law operation is success, my wife car is fix and my road tax will be renewed. These allowing all of us to be able to perform our activities. Allowing us to continue serving, giving our best.

Today at work, I feel His guidance in all meeting that I had. And I want to give Him thank.

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you " - If you also under a great deal of pressure. Remember this verse, and He will give you rest.

Another day full of blessing.

ULTIMATE SACRIFICE - EASTER SUNDAY

I did not have much to share, it was an awesome day. I decieed to just shares my note from Easter Sunday service message.

Luke 7:36-47 Jesus anointed by a sinful woman.

"Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
  • The woman know that she have sinned. And she also know that she is forgiven (big time). That is why she gave Jesus everything she had, the best she can give.
  • Story of Jinjing (The Pinguin), the best friend of 71 years old man named Joao Pereira de Souza. Joao found the pinguin injured by the beach and took care it and released it after.. Until now, around every June, Jinjing always came back to find Joao. The became the very best friend since.
  • A lot of time we forgot that we are here, sitting in this church, is all because of Jesus care.
  • We need to always remember that we are more than Jinjing. To always remember and greatful of God's love. He need to be radical! And act on His love, live our life for Him, giving our best to Him.

Everything is according to His plan, His grace, His favor:
  • Psalm 39:4 NIV “Show me, Lord , my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is"
  • We have to remember that the fact we can serve God and others means we were given an opportunity to give back to God. With or without us, God's work will not stop. It is our privilidge, it is God's grace!
  • There is always be someone else that is much better than us, but He choses us to serve. That's Grace, that's Favor.

The fact that He has won againts the death, the fact that we are chosen to serve, we must live our life in the spirit of optimism:
  • We need to give our best! We must be optimistic
  • Hebrew 11:4 "By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead"

A great testimony about Siska, who fought and died because of cancer. But she still choose to serve God till she passed away. Without grumbling, never complained. She gave it all, she gave the best to Him. Excellent sacrifice!

Level iman kita seiring dengan level persembahan kita. It is about our spirit of giving. More excellent sacrifice.

CHILDREN LIKE

Matthew 18:1-3 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

It's pre Easter day, while Elsye was busy with her parents at Sunway Medical Center, I am with the kiddos, at High Praise Church for the Easter service final practice session.

Constance and Francis (together with Shelyn) have their contribution for the Kids Prayer song.

I am a proud father. Looking at how they actually dare themselves to sing. No doubt that they are not the best singer, nor the most experienced in singing. But they are willing. Their willingness already make me a proud father.

Out of their busy schedule with school and homework, and even their playing time and reading time. They willing to give their best.

Oh ya, they also doing their Daniel's Fast, not excluding the consumption of meat but excluding games from their activities! Nor in ipad, phones or even PS3.

For a 9th and 7th years old, I find their sacrifice is MUCH bigger than mine!!

Few things that I learned from them:
  • We should never underestimate or limit the awesomeness, nor competencies of the young ones, or ourselves. They are also knitted by God Himself (Psalm 139:13-16)
  • We need to be children like, the purity and honesty are something that seems lacking in adult world now day. (Matthew 18:1-3)
  • They walked in truth for their commitment. Sometimes I forgot about it and offered the phone to them but they quickly said "we puasa papa", my heart leap with joy hearing such.
  • They encourage each other and they remind each other about their commitment.

I pray that today devotion falls on a good soil in my heart, I need to remember this during a period that seems challenging my focus especially from the work life.

I pray that on this Easter, I can continue to die further. To have the sincerity, honesty and willingness like Constance and Francis, like the children.

Like the song said, never forget never forget, I'll grow up knowing you.

Another day full of blessing. Come on Kwang! Difficulties only make you do it better!

HAPPY EASTER

GOOD FRIDAY - ULTIMATE SACRIFICE

Hebrews 12:1-3 - God's disciples proves His love.

"Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up"

Mark 15:16-20 The soldiers mock Jesus
  • Jesus endured all the mockery, rudeness, hostility and insults from the soldiers and from everyone else.
  • He is not only suffered physically but also mentally.
  • The same people that praised Him, mocked Him and attacked Him.
  • At that moment we would expect the dearest people to help us, but no one come to help Him, even His own disciples left Him.
  • Imagine how He felt at that time (the same feeling that we sometime felt, the feeling to stop and walk away from our calling - our work, our service)
  • Jesus focus on His calling. We need to do the same, focus on our calling, our pure intention, to love Jesus and to love others.
  • Just like Jesus, who walked through: The Death, The Resurrection and The Ascension, we also need to walk through the same process.
  • Our ego need to die, then resurrect by the grace of God (In Him and Through Him), only then we can rose and conquer our challenges.

2 Corinthians 4:10 - Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies:
  • A lot of time we do not share the death but seems we just unconscious. Because our oldself seems to always come back!
In this Good Friday, let us reflect on the life of Jesus. On His respect to His calling and serving.

Our problem is waaayyyyyy easier than His! My problem in office is waaayyyyy simpler than His!

(Above is the summary of Good Friday sermont by Pastor Eddy). It answers my current situation of challenges at work life as well as personal life. Thank you Jesus.

BATTLE WITH ANGER, THE SAGA

"...because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires"- James 1:20 NIV

The sage continues, we went to Nissan service center in the morning. I was still unhappy with the situation. But I was not as angry, it's more like a frustration.

We arrived and I met the service consultant and expressed my dissatisfaction. Long story short, he admitted he should have called us before making the decision to change some of the spare part which based on the findings are no longer in good condition.

After expressing my frustration for a while, the man finally gets it and apologize and decided to give us discount (200MYRish). He tried his best to keep his cool and explained why he made the decision and showed us the old spare parts.

Honestly I am still unhappy. Frustrated that we still need to pay 3200MYR for everything. Sigh, this is out of our planning.

Glory to God in the highest.

The busy day at work helps to divert my mind and calms my nerves. After sometime I was able to accept the fact and walk through it.

I thank God for everything. Be it expensive service which impacting our cash flow, the heavy work load that helps me to divert my focus, and also the dinner with the managing director again and had some good laugh.

Praise to be God. The battle with anger is not finished, the saga will continue. But I know, I have Him to guide me. To always see the good and positive in every situation, to be positive.

I may fall again, but I know I can stand up again. One day, I pray I will win this battle.

Another day full of blessing.

BATTLE WITH ANGER

Day 83 devotion is late and I apologize for this.

Ephesians 4:26-27 NIV -“In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.

It was a hectic day at work having my managing director in town and also all the other work. Nothing new, they are all my job responsibility.

During lunch I received a call from Elsye that Nissan service center charging her a total of 3466MYR for her 90.000 km regular service.

I directly lost my appetite and all the tiredness somehow transformed into anger. I was angry and blame the service center for scam, for bullying my wife.

It was a battle as I have a hectic activities and one of them is the important meeting with my managing director.

As best as I can I tried to focus and thank God and Holy Spirit, everything went well. Praise be to God for the blessing of focus and self control.

I finished the night with our management team with a nice dinner in town.

I thought I managed to conquer the anger, I thought I win the battle. I was wrong.

As soon as I reached office, I start to read the invoice and that anger is back. I am not proud of it, but I was just angry and I thought I just need to release it. And the sad thing is, Elsye became to sandbag of it (btw, when I am angry I choose to be in silent).

Proverbs 19:11 MSG says smart people know how to hold their tongue; their grandeur is to forgive and forget.

After a while I know I cannot let my anger win, I decided to take my guitar and sing. Praising God, singing and giving thanks. And again, praise God in His place, as He calms the storm, He calms my heart.

It was midnight when I was done singing. And decided to sleep and takes care of Nissan service center tomorrow morning.

Another day full of blessing. I learn deeply that in battle with anger, I need Him, who calms the storm.

#Day 82: 22 March 2016

EXTRA MILE

I read an article from RMRS (Real Man Real Style) about few steps in life. Basically it says about:

Step 1. Showing up - this is our first step in achieving what we want in life. We need to show up.

Step 2. Do a good enough job that you don’t get in trouble. After the second step most people stop.

However those that seek greatness know there is a third step.

Step 3 –  Go the Extra Mile. Going the extra mile is the difference between being average vs being the one of the top performers/athletes/musicians/businessmen in the world.

Really – it’s that important. Going the extra mile is also showing our desire and our commitment.

Matthew 5:41 NIV says  If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.

I believe that everyone want to be around people who give you the two miles, who show passion and really want to make a difference.

When you choose to go the extra mile it immediately shows you have initiative, that you are committed. Going the extra mile shows you care about quality work, that you take responsibility seriously.

In short, it shows that you care!

It also shows that we are focus on the important things, on what matters. We can be the uplifted Martha!

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NIVDo you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Go the extra mile, also means we know what we are doing, giving our best to get the crown that will last forever.

So, when we see someone going the extra mile, acknowledge and give them praise, pat them at the back and support them. Show them that you also care, as they care.

Be FRESH. Another that full of blessing.

BEING MARTHA

Luke 10:38-42 NIV - As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”   “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,  but few things are needed—or indeed only one.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

This message says it all. Somehow I feel it is a personal message to me that I need to focus on few things, focus on what matters.

I feel I have committed on to many activities. I know all activities and serving that I committed to are good, just like Jesus is not saying anything bad about what Martha did.

But I realized that if I focus on few things, I can give better added value. The Pareto Principle (80 20 principle) kicks in nicely, where 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.

It is time for me to focus on whats important, the 20%. Giving my focus and energy on what matters.

Next month, I will be given more responsibility at work. And I think this contributes to the fact that I really need to manage my time better: Work commitment, Health commitment (Muay Thai) and Serving commitment.

I will reduce my serving commitment as it seems too many at this moment and I will focus on few areas that I believe I can give more added value.

All glory to God. Being Martha is not bad at all, but I think it may burn us out by doing too much.

But, I still want to be Martha, but an uplifted Martha, by applying the Pareto principle. The Martha that calm and contributes on few key important things. One day, hopefully, I can be the better Martha; having a Mary's heart in Martha's world.

Another day full of blessing.

WILLINGNESSUPGRADED

Isaiah 1:19 NIV - If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land

Still on the same message, the message about willingness. We learned about the Widow's offering from today's service. About how her act of love is something that we need to make or learn to make as our life habit, a habit to share.

The widow's willingness is something that Jesus remember and He even use it as a case study for His teaching. Her act is not merely a one act of love, it is upgraded by Jesus to became a role model of all act of offering.

The same act of offering that the women of FGCC showed today with the fund raising selling.

Not to my surprise the response and support are brilliant and they managed to gather the total offering of 994 MYR, which then top up by one of our brother to be 1000 MYR. After the cost calculation, the balance will be offered as building fund raising.

Well done people of God!

Their willingness, upgraded with the act of love to God, to our church, allows us to taste the good things, the great amount. And of course their great smile seeing the amount gathered, which now uplift their spirit even higher.

Glory to God in the highest.

Hebrews 13:16 NIV reminded us - And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

They showed me to remember to do good and share our energy and love with others. They showed me how God's pleased with such love and how others feel the same love.

Well done ladies. Be the light of the world that everyone can see your good work and praise the Lord.

WILLINGNESS

Colossians 3:23-24 NLT - Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

I was observing my wife since yesterday night; seeing her busy cooking for the cell group gathering till the cleaning part after the cell group. Then tonight, since the late afternoon, again busying herself at the kitchen, cooking for tomorrow's lunchies, to be sold after Sunday service.

I asked her if this is going to be her weekend activities, and she said it depends on the response of the selling.

In my mind, I was wondering how she get all her energy. Weekend for me is the lazying around day.

As I sit to think about my devotion today, I saw her focus and seriousness in preparing the "Lontong Sayur" ingredient, the soup, etc. I saw her willingness in doing all that. Which I know was the agreement with other women from the church to support the Fund Raising.

All revenue will be donate to the fund. Every single cents. I saw how her willingness enlarge her capacity and energy. I saw how her (and the others) willingness is the reflection of their love to the community, to the church and to God. That's the source of our energy.

2 Corinthians 8:12 NIV - For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.

In short, I am proud of them. Actually, the only thing required for us to be uplift is: Willingness

CALL UNTO HIM

Jeremiah 33:3 NIV - "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

It is so easy for us to lost track, to lost our way, especially when we are drowned in our daily activities, busy with work, with colleagues, with friends, with church activities, with families, with partners be it boyfriend or girlfriend, with the fear of future be it the future of financial, career or families, especially during this tough year.

It's like gravity, pulling us down back to the earth grown. It is so easy to fall, if we let everything loose and just allowed the 'gravity' to rule our life.

Yet, when we fall, it seems so difficult for us to pick up ourselves and stand again. The 'gravity' seems stronger.

Jeremiah reminded us about this, about how we can defying the 'gravity'.

He said - Call unto Him!

I see there are deeper meaning of this sentence, which means:
  • We know Him and He knows us; we would not call someone that we don't know.
  • We trust Him; normally we call someone when we trust them, when we are close to them
  • It is a Verb, means it is an action. Means we need to act. It is like whats written in Matthew 7:7 - "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

Call unto Him, and He will answer. Not only that, He will tell us all His great secrets, the unsearchable things! That is His promise.

I really feel blessed by this verse. It touches me to be reminded that I have such a loving Father, Coach, Mentor, who will guide me and share the best advise which are unsearchable in this world.

Call unto Him! And He will answer.

OTHERS FIRST, OUTSMARTING SINS, TOGETHER

Still in the spirit of "be alert", I was impressed by the world's largest community-based traffic and navigation apps name waze.

Waze allows drivers to share real-time traffic and road info, saving everyone time and gas money on their daily commute. Drivers get alerted before they approach police, accidents, road hazards or traffic jams, all shared by other drivers in real-time. It's like a personal heads-up from a few million of your friends on the road.

If only if we apply the same willingness to share, to help each other, in our work life or even spiritual life.
Where church member share real-life challenges, saving everyone time and effort on their daily struggle. People can be alerted before they fall unto sin, all supported by one another in real-life.

Everyone, on regular basis, put others first, outsmarting sins, together.

Would you be the 'wazers' for others?

BE ALERT

1 Thessalonians 5:6 - "So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled"

I was having an interesting thoughts sharing discussion with our brother Adrian about one of his posting in facebook. An interesting discussion which I personally found unnecessary as we both agreed and respect our different opinion.

We sees 'being alert' from two totally different angle.

While we were discussing, Francis came to me and ask about his devotion activity (Thank Shien-Shien for the new devotion book for Francis and Constance, they really love it)

I think it is God's way to remind me on what's important. In his devotion, being alert refers to how we keep our eyes open for any chance to show that we love God:
  • By saying thank you
  • Helping someone
  • Listening to someone
  • Caring for nature
  • Taking care of my body

Wow! How great is our God. I really like the focus of the devotion and it teaches me on what really important in being alert.

While appreciating the thought sharing discussion, I decided to accepts Francis devotion definition and call it a night and then removed my comments from facebook.

Prayer: God, I am going to keep my eyes open for any chance to help someone. Give me thr serenity to remain alert while focus on whats important. Amen.

MULTIPLYING TALENTS

I was at HR Talent Management Asia 2016 conference today (and also tomorrow). A great conference filled with leaders of big companies in Malaysia. Everyone come together to talk about change, about talent management, about health and wellness, about their success stories which hopefully can be leverage by others and achieve their own success.

The word Talent reminds me of "The parables of talents"  that Matthew said in his book chapter 25:14 onwards.

The talents mentioned by Matthew is like a bags of gold (NIV bible), or money or silver (NLT translation), or a properties (according to AMP translation), all in all refers to a valuable things.

In my professional life now, the talent is referring to our employees, the human, the people.

If I applied the parable of talents in relation to human, it makes it interesting that I need to multiply the human, which I personally translate that I need to be a witness of God's love hence people will see and accepts and glorify God. And they will be witness to others, hence the multiplication of the "talent"

Interesting view indeed.

I am wondering if I have multiply the talent surrounding me. Not only helping their career, their skills development, their financial, etc. But their faith, in Jesus Christ.

I admire one of the speaker today, putting God's words as his closing presentation. He is the Managing Director of Feruni Ceramiche (CC Ngei)

He shared about how he transform the company culture by implementing a mindset change that everything the company do, has to have a purpose. Which is beyond KPIs or ROIs. The purpose that everything we do is for the greater of others.

He quoted Mark 8:36 NIV - "What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"

Ya, are we on track on our purpose in life? Multiplying talents? For the glory of God? And for the greater others?

All glory to God. Another day full of blessing

#Day 74: 14 March 2016

YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT

I had a funny yet frustrating experience today. It is about nasi padang. Yesterday afternoon, while we were in Kuala Terengganu, one of my friend bought a nasi padang. It looks great and said as the best Sumatra Nasi Padang in town (Erwina) - it does looks great!

We google the address and found 2 different restaurants, said to be famous (according to few reviewer). Decided to go to the other restaurant (Rex), we dashed out and waze-ing our way to the place. After struggling for a while we arrived, but the food did not look like what we saw earlier.

We then rushed to the other place, the one where my friend bought the food (back to Erwina) but, to no avail, the place is closed when we arrived (they closed at 4pm)

Still in the spirit of determination, we went to the place this morning. But, they have yet open. Sigh!

The experience clearly showed me that, I can't always get what I want. True that! Even a simple nasi padang.

The same like a lot of things in our lives, a lot of time we only or most of the time, focus on what we want. We want higher salary, higher career, nicer car, bigger house, more business, more success, more, more and more.

Some others even getting anxious about it, some stressed out because of it, and some even loose themselves in the journey of chasing what they want.

Psalms 34:10 NLT reminds us: "Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing"

What we tend to forget is that God knows what we need. He promised that we will lack no good thing, when we trust in the Lord! He promised that He will meet all our needs. Ya, our needs, not what we want.

Philippians 4:19 NIV said "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus"

It's just like what ROLLING  STONE used to sing:

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes well you might find
You get what you need

If we continue to seek His kingdom, well, He will provide what we need.

And yeah, still no nasi padang for me, yet.

Another day full of blessing.

#Day 73: 13 March 2016

LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION

Second day in Kuala Terengganu. The small town with a lot of nice seafood restaurant.

Oh well, we are in the land of temptation. Temptation to enjoy all the nice seafood with awesome reasonable price. Tempation to drop our fasting commitment not to eat any type of meat till 27 March (Daniel's Fast).

I guess like I said yesterday, problem and challenges are everywhere and will always be part of our lives and we should focus on the journey rather than the destination or the worry.

In this case, I need to accepts that the nice awesome looking food is part of my journey, the temptation is part of my 21 days journey. And I need to focus on what matters the most.

Thank God in the highest place. Elsye and I continue to enjoy the commitment while we allowed the kids to enjoy theirs (they decided to fast on games, no ipad no gadget).

We choose vegetables rather than seafood.

Like Jesus being tempted, we also are being tempted in our lives. Jesus knew this. That is why he leads by example. He was tempted and he won over the temptation by faith.

Hebrews 2:18 - For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

That is why he taught us the Lord's prayer. "Lead us not into temptation..." and if we do fall into temptation, let us focus on His journey, let us make His journey as ours. That we shall won over us, like He had won His.

Glory to God in the highest. Another day full of blessing.

1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it
