#Day190: 09 July 2016, Saturday

HE-ART

There is an old saying that I always remember which is "It is not the length of life but the depth"

I like it a lot as it somehow reflects the reality of life that "the depth of an ocean can be measure but not the depth person heart"

For me, a person heart is like a piece of an art.

Just like we realize that not everyone can easily understand what an artist is trying to express through their arts: painting, drawing, sculpturing, dancing, singing and so on.

We also acknowledge the joy, respect and awe that someone can have when they are able to find the understanding or the meaning of the art.

We dance or sing a long; some spent millions of dollars for sculpture or painting.

A person heart is like a piece of art.

And if I leverage the simple definition of "ART" according to Merriem-Webster site says:

"Something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings"

Having my parents in town allowed me to refresh my understanding on their point of views, their values, their ideas and their way of expressing their love, both my dad and my mom.

I can honestly confess that a lot of time it is difficult for me to understand their point of view. A lot of time when I thought that it is a good thing to provide to them, is seen as unnecessary.

1 Samuel 16:7 ESV - But the Lord said to Samuel, ... For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

This verse taught me to try and see my parent's heart and not merely their outward appearance. Not the things that I thought is important but what their heart sees as important.

A person heart is like a piece of an art.

The word heart itself can be read as He - Art (His Art) - my very own intepretation.

I guess that is what God want all of us to learn. Knowing all of us are His creation, His art. We should not sees or even worst judge, based on outward appearance, which means based on what we see. But we should looks on "He-Art" (the heart)

And I can see in my parents heart the undying everlasting love for us, for their children, even when we are all adults and able to stand by ourselves. Their love, their art is always making us as their important ones and filled with their feelings.

And I guess this applies to everyone, not just to my parents but to the way we see everyone, everything. We see the heart, we see He-Art, His heart.

What a blessing.
