#Day148: 28 May 2016, Saturday

BEING STUBBORN

Proverbs 29:1 MSG "For people who hate discipline and only get more stubborn, There’ll come a day when life tumbles in and they break, but by then it’ll be too late to help them"

I am worried, it's my mom heart condition. As result of 6 × 24 hours monitoring, the data gathered give a very discouraging information.

There is 90 occassions that her heart stops between 3 to 7 seconds. Thats massive! Which means her brain is not receiving sufficient oxygen and it may cause a sudden death. Oh God.

My eldest brother took a decision to fly to our home town and visited her. And share the data with her with the intention to convinced her to follow doctor the suggestion which is installing a pacemaker.

(A pacemaker is a small device that's placed in the chest or abdomen to help control abnormal heart rhythms. This device uses low-energy electrical pulses to prompt the heart to beat at a normal rate. Pacemakers are used to treat arrhythmias. Arrhythmias are problems with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat).

But, as expected, she is being my stubborn mom again. So far, she refuses the idea and still unable to accept the fact nor the proposed solution. We will continue to convinced her and pray that God will break her stubborness before its too late.

Stubborn! The Bible records instances of stubborn, mule-like behavior of human beings on occasion. From the Pharaoh (story of Exodus) to the several occassions shown by the people of Israel, God’s chosen people, who rebelled against God over and over, turning away from His love and protection. In fact, the Hebrew word translated “stubborn” means “turned away, rebellious, and backsliding.”

We see more examples of stubbornness in New Testament, like when Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath, the Pharisees’ hardness of heart grieved and angered Jesus. Instead of praising the Lord for His healing power and acknowledging their Messiah, the Pharisees’ rebellious hearts caused them to try to kill Him

But none of the story that relates to stubbornness had a happy ending.

I am worried for my mom and humbly pray for her and ask Holy Spirit, then loving guardian, God Himself, to break her stubbornness. And to guide me and my siblings with wisdom, patience and perseverance in serving and hopefully convince her to take the correct decision.

This make me question myself as well, am I like her when come to following God's word? Sadly I think I am. There are so many occassions that I still failed to stop being stubborn.

Forgive me oh Lord, bless me Holy Spirit,
May I be able to keep my path in Your ways,
All the time, everytime.

Holy Spirit, God, please break my and my mom stubbornness. Amen!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
